Attraction Information
Plymouth Miniature Steam offers a charming and traditional day out for families with kids of all ages, also ideal for bringing grandparents and friends along for a satisfying little jaunt on the rails.
The double circuit ground level track, over half a mile in length, caters for 31/2, 5 and 71/4 gauge rolling stock. Two 71/4 gauge Wren locomotives and 2 battery powered diesels provide the pulling power for public running days.
Membership of PMS is open to anyone who has an interest in building or operating miniature steam operated models, or any other engineering activities. Running days occur on the first 3 Sundays each month from April to October, rides for the public are 75 pence on the first and third Sundays.
Workshop facilities are available at a local school weekly during term time. Apprentices from age 12 are encouraged to use the workshop under supervision. The apprentice scheme aims to provide skills used in engineering, i.e. marking out, filing, sawing, turning, drilling and soft soldering, all well worthwhile to keep their burgeoning interest under full steam, as it were!
Please be cautious with the sat nat coordinates as it points you toward a street several roads away. Best to follow the written directions while we work on it!
