Cliveden Gardens and Maze - National Trust

All the paths around the Cliveden Estate are buggy friendly, however, the Woodlands may require a sturdier buggy. Two sturdy pushchairs are available at the Information Centre. Pre-booking is available but not essential.

Tasty Treats for the Whole Family

Fuel your Cliveden adventure with something delicious. The Conservatory Café offers light bites, hearty lunches and kids’ pick ’n’ mix lunch boxes (hot food 11.30am–2.30pm). Behind it, the Old Firestation Parlour serves Jude’s ice cream and snacks (April–September, 12–5pm). The Refreshment Kiosk in the Walled Garden car park is perfect for takeaway drinks and dog-friendly visits (9.30am–4pm). Riverside Kiosk offers snacks before boat trips (March–October, 10.30am–3.30pm). Nestled in the woods, the Woodland Lounge Trailer is a dog-friendly spot with treats for humans and hounds alike (10am–3.30pm).

Pack a Picnic

There’s plenty of space to spread out and enjoy a picnic at Cliveden. Choose a sunny spot by the river, a shady patch in the Woodlands, or one of the picnic tables in the Water Garden. Wherever you settle, it’s the perfect place for families to relax and refuel.

Cliveden is located on a chalk hill overlooking the River Thames. There is a level access route around the formal gardens. There are a number of steps and steep slopes without handrails in the wider estate, especially going down to the river side which is unfenced. There are also unfenced lakes and ponds. Routes around the property have ramps/slopes and uneven cobbled and gravel surfaces, so a shuttle can take visitors to the Conservatory Café or the riverside. Manual wheelchairs, a running buggy and mountain trikes can also be borrowed from the Visitor Reception. Booking in advance recommended.
