About Mid Hants Railway Watercress Line

Pick up your golden ticket and experience the golden age of steam travel at The Watercress Line! Get up close with the locomotives at this historic railway and treat your family to a day out on a steam train. Make sure to stop o at Alresford’s charming Georgian town centre with lots of great independent shops, a picturesque riverside walk and local landmarks. Top tip: A trip to Hinton Ampner, a nearby National Trust property is a must. A day out here is certain to have mini-train enthusiasts jumping up and down with glee!  Walk in Harry Potter’s footsteps over the iron footbridge where he received his ticket for the Hogwarts Express, or visit the Loco Yard where you can look behind the scenes in the impressive engineering workshops and get up close to the locomotives.  They also run several special event days throughout the year, including 'A Day Out With Thomas' where you can meet Thomas the Tank Engine and friends; a great family day out for Thomas enthusiasts with plenty of children's activities including a miniature railway and vintage fairground.  Other special event days include the popular 'Wizard Weekend', Vintage immersive days, Steam Illuminations, Father Christmas events and many more.   And for a dining experience with a difference, step onboard and watch the picturesque Hampshire countryside roll by as you enjoy a traditional Sunday roast with the family.
