Discover a Wild Day Out at Noah’s Ark Zoo Farm
Nestled in the North Somerset countryside just outside of Bristol, Noah’s Ark Zoo Farm is a unique zoo and conservation charity offering a fun-filled, educational, and inspiring experience for families and animal lovers. Home to over 100 species, from a bachelor herd of African Bull elephants to endangered Andean bears, this 100-acre site is one of the South West’s top family attractions. Whether you're meeting the UK's largest zoo animals or exploring indoor and outdoor play areas, every visit is a chance to connect with wildlife in a meaningful and memorable way.
Iconic Zoo Animals & Rare Species
Get up close to some of the world’s most incredible creatures. Noah’s Ark is proud to be home to a group of four African elephants; Shaka, Uli, Janu and Sutton. They live in a specially designed 20-acre habitat called Elephant Eden. This impressive space is one of the most spacious elephant habitats in northern Europe and reflects the zoo’s strong commitment to animal welfare, conservation, and research. You’ll also meet lions, giraffes, white rhinos, zebras, spectacled (Andean) bears, otters, and many other species.Through immersive daily talks and feeds, you can learn more about each animal, their behaviours, and the conservation work being done to protect them in the wild.
Conservation
At its core, Noah’s Ark is more than just a zoo. As a conservation charity, it actively supports endangered species through habitat protection, research, breeding programmes, and partnerships with organisations such as the Spectacle Bear Society and Safina Lion Conservation.
From pioneering sustainable enrichment methods to promoting biodiversity through local wildlife habitats on site, the zoo aims to inspire the next generation of conservationists.
Unmissable Animal Encounters and Expereinces
Want to get even closer to the animals? You can book a range of Animal Experiences and Encounters, from preparing an elephant’s breakfast to feeding their mob of meerkats. These once-in-a-lifetime opportunities let you step behind the scenes and gain a deeper understanding of how the zoo cares for its animals.
Encounters are suitable for individuals, couples, and families, and also make unique and thoughtful gifts for birthdays, anniversaries, or special occasions.
All-Weather Family Fun
Come rain or shine, there’s plenty to explore. Kids will love the indoor Animal Village, where they can meet friendly farm animals and enjoy a hands-on sensory experience. The soft play barn offers slides, ball pits, and climbing frames for under 12s, while grown-ups can relax with a coffee in the nearby café. Outside, 15 play areas are dotted across the park, from trampolines and climbing frames to tractor rides and accessible play equipment. Don’t forget to tackle the UK’s largest hedge maze while you're here!
Seasonal Events
Throughout the year, Noah’s Ark hosts a series of seasonal events, from Pumpkinfest in October, with thousands of pumpkins grown using elephant and rhino manure, to festive experiences at Christmas where children can meet Santa in his magical library, enjoy storytelling sessions, say hello to the zoo’s real reindeer, and take home a Wonky Christmas tree.
School holidays are packed with interactive activities, crafts, and trails that keep families coming back again and again.
Accessibility & Inclusivity
The zoo is committed to being an inclusive day out for everyone. Paths are wheelchair and buggy friendly, and many viewing areas are designed with accessibility in mind. Quiet spaces are available for visitors with additional needs, and the zoo also offers discounted Blue Light Tickets, which now include teachers as well as NHS, emergency service, and armed forces.
Food, Shopping & Facilities
Enjoy a bite to eat at the Food Barn, serving hot meals, snacks, and children’s lunch boxes. For a treat, head to the Farm Shop, stocked with local produce, wildlife-themed gifts, and sustainable souvenirs. There are plenty of picnic spots and shaded seating areas for relaxing throughout your visit. To make your day even easier, on-site facilities include free parking, baby changing rooms, stoma-friendly toilets, and a welcoming Visitor Services team ready to help with any questions.
Education & Outreach
Noah’s Ark is an inspiring destination for school trips and educational visits. With dedicated learning spaces and tailored workshops, children can engage in hands-on learning about biology, conservation, animal behaviour, and sustainability. The zoo also offers home educator days and outreach talks for community groups.
A Day to Remember
Whether you’re marvelling at a soaring Birds of Prey display, watching a lion sleep in the sun, or seeing the joy on your child’s face as they complete the wildlife trail, a day at Noah’s Ark Zoo Farm is full of unforgettable moments.
Home of the Big Zoo Animals
Noah’s Ark Zoo Farm is a conservation charity and the largest zoo in Somerset with over 100 species of animals. The multi award winning Zoo is open 7 days a week and aims to make Noah's Ark a place of joy, wonder, adventure and refreshment that supports the well-being of all visitors, staff and volunteers. Through education and fun, they aim to inspire and motivate this generation and the next to care for animals. Visit Noah’s Ark and come face to face with a cheeky mob of meerkats, be awed by African elephants and dazzled by the zebra herd! Experience the majestic beauty and see the skies come alive during the daily birds of prey displays! The Wings of Wonder display showcases the owls, hawks, falcons and eagles in an unforgettably mesmerizing spectacle.
The UK's largest Elephant Habitat
Noah's Ark Zoo Farm is home to four African bull elephants — Shaka, Uli, Janu, and Sutton — who serve as ambassadors for their species, inspiring and educating visitors about elephant conservation. African elephants are classified as Endangered on the IUCN Red List of Threatened Species, and Noah's Ark plays a vital role in their preservation.
At the heart of this commitment is Elephant Eden, the largest elephant facility in the UK. This state-of-the-art, 20-acre habitat was created with the welfare and enrichment of the elephants in mind. It features a heated indoor barn, sand yards, expansive grazing fields, a swimming pool, and a large willow plantation for foraging and browsing.
The zoo’s elephant programme is part of the European breeding programme for African elephants, focusing on bull elephants, which is vital in zoo breeding initiatives.
