About House Of Dreams Museum
Slip into the streets of East Dulwich and search for the House of Dreams Museum! Notice anything out of the ordinary? Behind the front gate of a quiet suburban home lies Stephen’s Wright’s colourful portal of Outsider Art!
Stephen Wright may sound like a familiar name if you are from the design world. In the 1980’s Stephen produced textile and fashion collections under his own name, then later began his own company for designing & marketing. He sold his own designs to Harvey Nichols, Liberty, Harrods and Selfridges in London, and exported them to the USA and Japan! After becoming disillusioned with the art world Stephen wanted to start all over again and over the last 30 years he has collected and covered his home and garden with objects he has found throughout his life. Every single surface is covered in weird and wonderful objects from false teeth to bottle tops – alongside Stephen’s hand-written memory boards. The house has such an impressive collection of eccentric items it is a hotspot for people who want to explore the quirkiest parts of London.
The home is a real hidden treasure that will eventually be left to the National Trust too! Open day tickets sell out quite quickly, and as kids go free it’s one rare attraction you don’t want to miss out on. Head to one of the open days and be prepared to have your mind blown.
30 years worth of collectables & art (in counting!)
