Attraction Information
Christchurch Park facilities centre around a well equipped children's play area; but extend to tennis courts; bowling greens and croquet lawn plus space for traditional play. It must be pretty good, it's held the Green Flag Award for 7 years and counting!
Christchurch Park also plays host to many events and activities all year round. The Wildlife and Education Rangers hold many events such as nature walks, arts and crafts activities, storytelling and trails for children of all ages, worth watching for in their online Events Calendar. All weather shelters include The Reg Driver Visitor and Education Centre so there are some options if the rain comes on.
The oaks and sweet chestnuts in Christchurch Park are particularly important as some of them are 300 to 400 years old! Many of the species that thrive in the Park today are rare in an urban situation so leaf lovers will be happy bunnies. Everyone else though can try to imagine what it was like beyond the park when these great trees were saplings…
If this park is local to you it's well worth checking out the Friends scheme, where for £5 a year your child can get into illustrated talks and discussions about the park; enjoy special Guided Park walks and even take park in practical conservation work! What a brilliant way to get to know your local playspace better!
