The Harbour Ferry makes for a fabulous day out on the water. A ride on The Harbour Ferry is an adventure for children, walkers and cyclists! Suffolk and Essex’s Favourite Foot & Bicycle Ferry, connecting Harwich, Shotley and Felixstowe since 1912.

The ferry provides a unique way to arrive for those visiting the historic Landguard Fort in Felixstowe, or those planning a leisurely lunch at the renowned Milsom’s Pier Hotel in Harwich as well as walks along the rivers and trips to Shotley Vineyard.
Ships Ahoy! Many visitors enjoy close-up views of the massive ships alongside one of Europe’s largest container terminals at Felixstowe and the towering passenger ferries arriving from Holland and Denmark. They also see the hundreds of yachts sailing through the harbour to their marinas upriver.

The ferry service runs throughout the spring and summer months, starting 1st April and ending 31st October. Providing a frequent and convenient service for tourists to East Anglia, the local community and those with business between the ports.

Harbour Tours are a great way to get outdoors and breathe in that salty sea air! Or you can take one of their River Cruises to meander your way around the scenic views of Harwich.
Foot and bicycle ferry services are available and you can even hire a boat privately for personal parties or birthdays.

Plan your perfect day with a trip on this cheerful foot and bicycle ferry, for all the family. Trips from 7 minutes to 1 hour. Grab an icecream or pizza on Harwich Pier before taking a 15 minute trip on The Harbour Ferry to Landguard beach in Felixstowe or 5 minutes ride over to Shotley Marina and back. Alternatively children love sitting on the ferry for an hour round trip taking in the sights of the huge container ships. If you are lucky you will spot a Porpoise in the water. There are toilets, parking and food facilities at all departure/arrival points.
