About The Regal

The Regal is an independent multi-purpose venue consisting of 3 auditoriums and a spacious café bar. We are located in the heart of Stowmarket, in Suffolk. The venue is owned and run by Stowmarket Town Council and is a real cornerstone of the town, much loved by the local community.

Alongside the latest blockbuster films, The Regal also screens live and recorded event cinema screenings from National Theatre Live, The Royal Opera House, The Royal Ballet and music concerts from the likes of André Rieu, Westlife, Coldplay and Littlemix.

We also host live shows, from musical tributes to stand-up comedy and dance shows to the a Christmas pantomime - there is something for everyone! Keep up to date with what's on at The Regal by signing up to our e-newsletter. We'll send you information on film times, upcoming event cinema and live shows direct to your inbox! The venue also boasts an attractive café bar, named after the year The Regal was built - The 1936.

Here at The Regal, we believe that theatre should be for everyone! We offer a varied programme of live shows including some specifically aimed at families with young children. Our small and friendly theatre is the perfect way to introduce your children to theatre live on stage, with shows including lots of interactive elements to really get them involves in the fun! These shows are shorter than those for adults, making them more managable for little ones. One of our top-selling children's shows is our annual Christmas Pantomime, brought to life on our stage by the local historic organisation - Stowmarket Operatic and Dramatic Society. We also play host to several local children's theatre and dance schools, usually for their end of year showcase extravaganzas!

Accessible Cinema Trips For Families!

One of the reasons The Regal is so well-loved in the local community is our commitment to making cinema accessible to everyone. One of the ways we do this is with our "Pocket Money Movies" offer - A family-friendly activity which doesn't break the bank. On Saturdays, Sundays and throughout the school holidays, you can watch much loved, recently released films at a fraction of the usual price. Tickets are just £2 per person! Add on our popular Kids Combo (a small popcorn + drink) for just £3.25 too!

Another way we help to keep cinema accessible is by accepting Meerkat Movie codes. When you buy a qualifying product from Compare The Market you can enjoy Meerkat Movies! This means you'll be able to get 2 for 1 cinema tickets at The Regal every Tuesday or Wednesday - all year long! Foor more information, visit: www.comparethemarket.com

We are also proud to be a cinema which participates in the national CEA Card scheme, which enables a disabled cinema goer to receive a complimentary movie ticket for someone to go with them e.g. a companion or carer. For more information or to apply for your card, visit: www.ceacard.co.uk

Baby Friendly & Relaxed Film Screenings

Our Baby Friendly screenings are designed to let those with new-borns, relax and enjoy a newly released “grown-up” movie (up to 12A) whilst providing a comfortable environment for babies with low level lighting, reduced sound levels and a more relaxed attitude to moving around the auditorium throughout the film. Search our website for Baby Friendly Screenings by clicking the button within the "On Screen" drop-down menu.

Suitable for those living with Dementia, Autism or other Neurodiversity, these screenings have adaptations in place to make the environment less intense and more sensory friendly. This includes low level lighting, reduced sound levels and a more relaxed attitude to talking throughout the film and moving around the auditorium. Paid carers come free (ID required). Search our website for Relaxed Screenings by clicking the button within the "On Screen" drop-down menu.
