About Blackgang Chine

There’s no better way to spend a family day out than at Blackgang Chine, the Isle of Wight’s number one park. With over 180 years of history, Blackgang Chine offers an unforgettable experience for visitors of all ages, combining fun, adventure, and a touch of magic in one place. Whether you’re making cherished memories with your children or reliving your childhood as an adult, the park’s unique blend of historical charm and modern attractions will leave everyone smiling.

Lands of Imagination

Blackgang Chine offers more than just rides, it immerses visitors in imaginative, interactive lands where they become part of the adventure. In Pirate Cove, you can explore pirate ships, complete with water cannons for classic pirate shenanigans! Cowboy Town transports you to the Wild West, complete with a saloon and shootouts. For dinosaur lovers, Restricted Area 5 features life-sized animatronic dinosaurs. Get up close and personal with dinosaurs of all types including an Argentinosaurus, bigger than a double decker bus, and the biggest animatronic T-Rex in the country – but only if you’re brave enough! The Underwater Kingdom offers a dive into the deep blue sea and uncover the glistening underwater cave, vibrant luminescent coral reef and an abandoned sunken shipwreck before turning the corner to ‘swim’ beneath a huge 60ft blue whale overhead! Nursery Land and Fairyland also offer familes a chance to explore traditional tales.

Rides & Attractions

You will be spoilt for choice with the selection of rides at Blackgang Chine. Offering a variety of family-friendly rides that combine thrill, adventure, and fun in a unique, imaginative setting.

Opening in 2025, The Jolly Robin will be the newest attraction at Blackgang Chine. Set sail on an exciting adventure, step aboard a ghostly ship, condemned to sail through stormy waters after encountering a colossal whale one fateful night.

For thrill-seekers, Extinction is a swinging pendulum ride that soars 18 meters high, providing breathtaking views of the coast while delivering an adrenaline rush.

One of the park’s biggest attractions is Waterforce, the Isle of Wight’s largest waterslide, where visitors can race down steep chutes or brave the dark, twisting “Plughole.”

Younger visitors will love Pirate Barrels, a fun spinning ride, and Snakes & Ladders, a giant outdoor version of the classic game, complete with slides and climbing areas.

Introduced in 2024, Blackgang Beach is another attraction the little ones absolutely love! A giant water pillow that allows visitors to experience the sensation of hopping, skipping, jumping, or running on water without getting wet.

Seasonal Events

At Blackgang Chine, the magic doesn’t stop with the rides—throughout the year, the park transforms with spectacular seasonal events that bring even more adventure, fun, and surprises for the whole family!

Returning in 2025 for May Half-Term, saddle up for Wild West Week at Blackgang Chine, running from 24th May to 31st May 2025. This action-packed event transforms Cowboy Town into a bustling frontier of excitement and adventure.

Looking for some family fun this summer? Look no further than the Isle of Wight’s Summer Fest event! Blackgang Chine's evening entertainment with fireworks is sure to thrill both young and old alike! And, with live music, you’ll be dancing and singing along all nihgt. Don’t miss out on our foam, confetti, and laser party too!

Summer Fest is the perfect family event, but there are also grown-up attractions you won’t find anywhere else on the Isle of Wight.

The Isle of Wight's most extensive family Halloween event inspired by Día de los Muertos, Fiesta of the Dead, will also be returning in 2025. Step through the gates this Halloween into a world beyond, where our charismatic Gate Keeper awaits to guide you on your journey to the other side.
