Attraction Information
The Heritage Centre was once part of the Village School and is located at the rear of what is now the library in the old part of the village. Fascinating displays cover vast swathes of Bembridge's early history, not only in photographs, paintings, maps and written descriptions but also through the many artefacts and medals on display donated by the local community.
There are some cool scale models to interest kids like the long closed Bembridge Railway Station and a real, fully restored PLUTO pump (that's Pipe Line Under the Ocean to us!) is showcased with the impressive story of the famous PLUTO project alongside it in accessible format Great as an educational stop for kids doing industrialisation at school.
Their reams of local information are not only about the village itself but of wider industrial and archaeological interest within the Parish like the imposing Bembridge Fort, so with a bit of extra studying you can winkle out the history of your holiday's hot spots!
