Woodseaves Miniature Railway
Market Drayton, ShropshireAbout Woodseaves Miniature Railway
Woodseaves Miniature Railway is a great little attraction that is definitely worth a visit if you are already in the area on a Sunday between from the beginning of March to September. The narrow gauge railway runs through Woodseaves Plants nursery, so there are some lovely plants to look at along the way. There are 2 resident Engines, a Diesel Engine called “Sydney”, and a Steam Engine called “Jean”. The rolling stock includes a 4 seater open carriage, plus 2 roofed 4 seater carriages (that used to belong to Brookside Miniature Railway). The current maximum capacity is 12 passengers. There is also a great 16mm gauge model railway to amuse the kids.
The railway is privately funded and kept running by a team of enthusiastic volunteers, who are always working to improve the railway. A water tank and a turntable are being added, and future plans include the addition of a willow tunnel and possibly some signal boxes, so check online for the latest news before your visit. Free for children under 4 years of age.
