Things To Do
Ever dreamed of captaining a pirate ship or exploring enchanted gardens? At Millhouses Park, these dreams leap into reality. With a playground that's more like a treasure chest of fun, your little explorers can slide, swing, and climb to their hearts' content. And for those hot summer days, the splash park transforms into a giggling oasis of cool. Fancy a serene voyage? The boating lake awaits, offering peaceful escapades amidst the quacking audience of ducks.
Millhouses Park can be found roughly 3 miles southwest of Sheffield city centre. The urban park offers 13 hectares of Green Flag award-winning parkland. It is open daily throughout the year, and free to visit.
Children's Adventure Playground
There is a great ‘adventure style' playground designed to amuse and entertain the kids with features that include chains and climbing bars, balance beams, a new zip wire, and a state-of-the-art climbing wall for kids aged 4 to 11 years. There is also plenty of traditional equipment such as swings and a large climbing frame.
If the kids want some splashtastic fun, there is also the Splash water play area/paddling pool during the summer, which offers interactive aquatic features to play with. Including an Archimedes Screw, sluice gates, a water wheel, and a rain tress. Make sure you have plenty of towels and spare clothes handy!
There's plenty of features for children and outdoor spaces to interact and enjoy.
Outdoor Activities
There is also a Fish Ladder, which is a rocky stream designed to encourage fish to swim upstream and bypass the 2 weirs on the river Sheaf, a Boat Lake, and of course, the river itself, which is a great place for a stroll or a picnic. You can hire a paddle boat or the iconic swan boats
The park also has a large purpose-built Skate Park, with kerbs, ramps and rails, plus an all-weather 5-side football pitch, and a kids cycleway with humps and bumps! There's also a cricket pitch and tennis courts here! Everything for those who play sports.
A Symphony of Seasons
Millhouses Park wears the seasons like a series of stunning costumes, each more dazzling than the last. Spring dresses the park in a frock of flowers, summer sunbathes in the glow of laughter and ice creams, autumn paints the ground in crunchy hues, and winter wraps it in a sparkling blanket of frost. It’s a year-round theatre of nature’s finest shows, and you’re always invited to the performance.
It's a place where buzzing bees teach about teamwork, and the sensory garden is a smorgasbord of smells and textures, perfect for tiny hands eager to touch and noses ready to sniff.
