Attraction Information
Discovery Point offers hands on interactive features, audiovisual shows, computer based multimedia and fascinating displays of artefacts will draw your family into the rich history of the Discovery: Captain Scott's remarkable Antarctic expedition vessel! Fantastic extra credit material for school goers and fascinating fare for everybody else. There's no end of historical data and educational adventure to be had here, it's well worth planning some additional material to create your own adventures with at home afterwards as the kids will tend to come out of here inspired and ready to go!
You can take a tour if you've got older or quieter kids but it's really for the more educationally interested types (who will enjoy it greatly). You can also wander much of it freely and explore a little with great views for kids over the side so it's worth taking a camera.
If you do take the tour you can learn all about the Antarctic expedition that history will never forget, which is perilous and concerning in places, so give nervous types a heads up about the story in advance. It's a terrific stop for school agers who can knock out an awesome history report based on a single visit.
