Dartington Crystal Glass is a great place to take the kids to experience something a little different, with the chance to see award winning craftsmen at work, and even have a go yourself!
When you enter the Factory Experience, you can watch from an elevated platform as hot molten crystal is transformed in to elegant shapes, using an art that's 3,000 years old! Discover the history of Dartington Crystal in the Audiovisual Theatre, then follow a timeline from 1967 to present day, and see how the first pieces of glass were made in the museum section. You will also get the chance to watch a Master Engraving demonstration, and even choose a special piece to personalise.
If you fancy having a go yourself, there are a number of hands on activities available, from the chance to try glass blowing for yourself, to having your hand or foot cast forever in glass! Paint your own glass, design jewellery, and take your creations home with you, as a souvenir or a gift for someone special. Hand casting and glass blowing are available on weekdays only, but jewellery making and glass painting are available daily between October and March. It is a good idea to book ahead by calling 01805 626242 during busy periods as these sessions are quite popular.
