Braintree and Bocking Public Gardens has 5 acres of formal public gardens incorporating some 250 trees so it's a lovely green space for a family outing and a grand backdrop for family photos.
There is a reasonably sized children's play ground provided with multi use equipment for some fun exercise, with features including all the classics like slide, swings, witch's hat and flying fox. You can also book the tennis courts and attend regular bandstand concerts.
The Wild Garden is particularly popular with the mini beasts and squirrels, while the round pool has water lilies and goldfish to spot.
To make the most of the trip take bats (or rackets!) and balls, sketchpad and camera plus a picnic! There's as much to do here as the imagination allows.
Plus The Gardens Coffee House is open 7 days a week if Yogi's has your picnic basket away, serving hot and cold snacks and drinks made freshly on the premises, with lovely treats for kids including ice creams.
Open from 9am until dusk each day apart from Christmas Day when it's closed.
