Chelmer Cruises is a charming place that is also known as Paper Mill Lock Cruises and Victoria Cruises. Whatever you call it, it's got all the potential for a great day out on the water!
The Victoria is a much beloved passenger barge that's been travelling these waters for 30 years! It seats over 40 passengers and offers a scenic 2 hour jaunt along the waterway connecting the Chelmer to the Blackwater. The whole family will love getting such a unique view of many local landmarks as well as passing beneath several ornate bridges and within sight of many other treasures. Don forget, you must prebook your Victoria trip in advance!
They offer custom trips for families and groups too so you can choose the duration if nothing set in stone suits you and there are catering facilities on board so it's even suitable for special family occasions and can be privately hired. Hmm there's an idea!
Meanwhile for a shorter, more tranquil trip, try The Albert, a lovely 12 seater riverboat that is great for families with young children and provides a single hour of gentle boating along the canal to enjoy. We recommend that you pre book as this is a very popular service.
