Berwick Sports & Leisure Centre offers a freeform shallow pool for the smaller kids plus a nice 25m main swimming pool which includes a tube style flume slide and a rather excellent wave machine!
The big fun features and the inflatable play sessions are specially scheduled however, so be sure to check ahead on their timetables when you're planning or you'll be getting seriously told off in small angry voices!
The Little Swimmers group welcomes kids of all ages to learn the basics, the Ducklings class teaches 3 to 4 year olds to use buoyancy aids. Swimming is not only a great skill that can save their lives but also fantastic exercise and good for building confidence. Using access to the flume and wave machine as an incentive can work wonders with development speed, too!
There's also an adventure play facility for under 5s on the same site with a couple of levels' worth of crazy physical play equipment with lots of the kids' favourite items included and a seating area for parents with good visibility of the whole thing.
Because it's fairly small and it has a young age cap it's excellent for nervous types or those just starting on adventure play who want their grown up within sight. There are Active Tots sessions held here too when they inflate a small bouncy castle for additional jumpy joy!
