Belhaven Bay
Dunbar, Edinburgh and LothianAbout Belhaven Bay
Belhaven Bay sits on a spectacular stretch of cliff running 20 miles from Dunbar eastward, where storm sculpted sandstone cliffs, alive with nesting birds, are interspersed with sandy beaches like, but not as nice as, this one. Belhaven's wide sands are backed with a dune ridge, the perfect spot for building sandcastles, playing beach games and having a family day out. Surfers and kite fliers make the most of crashing waves and high winds, and swimming is safe in calm weather, although jellyfish are often found here. There is no lifeguard cover at any time. Toilets in the immediate vicinity. Dunbar itself is full of interesting history from its cobbled Cromwell Harbour to the ruined castle and 17th century town house. There are also family Activity Centress nearby such as the East Links Family Park.
