Bentwaters Cold War Museum

About Bentwaters Cold War Museum

Bentwaters Cold War Museum gives you the opportunity to see the inside of a type of building that is not normally open to the public and find out what it was used for during war time. Several of the rooms have been restored to show their original purpose, such as the main War Operations Room and Battle Cabin. There is also a telephone exchange room to investigate, plus an original airlock. Other rooms hold exhibitions, one showing the history of RAF Bentwaters and another the history of the ‘twin base', RAF Woodbridge. There are also displays about ‘Special Operations' and ‘Rescue Squadrons' that were based at Woodbridge and another for the ‘Aggressor' Squadron at Bentwaters. Kids will enjoy looking for the aliens that are hidden around the building and seeing the amazing aircraft that are on display. They will also have the unique chance to see what life was like on a US airbase in the UK. The museum is run entirely by a friendly and enthusiastic team of volunteers, who are happy to share their knowledge by answering any questions you have.
