Along the 22 miles of coastline are 20 beaches. Some are wide expanses of sand and others are tucked away, surrounded by heavy woodland. This piece of the coast is a luxurious holiday destination for families and a great place to spend a long summers day.
If you can pull yourself off of the beach on your Torquay family day out there are lots of other activities you can do in and around the town. Waddle alongside a penguin and see otters and seals at Living Coasts, Torquay’s coastal zoo and aquarium. If you prefer your animals more prehistoric then Dinosaur World will help bring them to life as you learn about their world and uncover fossils.
The Torquay Museum is family friendly and designed to engage adults and children with interesting and interactive exhibitions, games, puzzles and trails, or Cockington Court is just two miles out of the centre and has lots of fun indoor and outdoor activities set within an impressive country park and manor house.
Help small children feel like giants for the day at Babbacombe Model Village, where you can explore four acres of award-winning gardens featuring hundreds of model village scenes, vehicles and people. Just make sure you watch your step!
