About Yearsley Pool

Yearsley Swimming Pool at Haley's Terrace, next to the Nestlé chocolate factory and the river Foss, is genuinely special - a unique 50-yard (45.7m) Edwardian pool built in 1908 and gifted to the citizens of York, making it the biggest and oldest pool in the city. The long course is brilliant for distance swimming and serious training, while Aqua Splash sessions help younger swimmers build water confidence. It's clean, welcoming and steeped in over a century of local history, used by around 12,000 visitors a month from families to competitive swimmers. Birthday parties and swimming lessons for all ages and abilities complete the offer.
  • Historic 50-Yard Edwardian Pool

A one-of-a-kind 50-yard Edwardian pool, over 100 years old and the biggest, oldest pool in York.
  • Accessible Changing & Hoists

Accessible changing rooms and hoists help make the distinctive 45.7m pool usable by a broad range of swimmers.
  • Balcony & Spectator Viewing Area

A balcony and spectator area gives parents and guardians a clear view during lessons and swimming sessions.
