Attraction Information
The Stansted Park Light Railway is a 7 and a quarter inch gauge miniature railway in the grounds ofStansted House in Hampshire, and next to theStansted Park Garden Centre.
It runs 850 yards through parkland and forest, past a 12 foot span girder bridge and a little station. There is also a 6 road engine shed and workshop, plus a turntable. The railway will take you on a lovely circuit that will provide enjoyment for all ages.
The railway opened in 2005, with quite humble beginnings, but over the years, the number of volunteers involved has grown, along with the locomotive fleet, which has 6 steam and 4 petrol hydraulic locomotives, plus a third scale traction engine! Please be away that while the railway is totally family friendly, children must be accompanied by an adult at all times.
If you fancy making a day of it, there are the Edwardian House and Grounds of Stansted Park, with a Grade II Listed country house set on a 1750 acre estate within the South Downs National Park.
