Clock in to your shift at Sir Richard Arkwright’s 1783 water powered cotton spinning mill and experience the working environment of a historic textile mill. Discover the heritage machinery that industrially revolutionised the processing of raw cotton into spun yarn and woven fabric. Explore our extensive collection of heritage textile machinery in the Weaving Shed, Doubling Room, Victorian Workshop, Boiler House & Bobbin Room.
Working 19th Century Weaving Looms
We run regular machinery demonstrations including 19th Century weaving looms, Doubling Machines, a Sample Carder and line shafting. All this is available on both our self-guided experiance and guided tour.

The Textile Museum is packed with machinery and artefacts that showcase the processing of raw cotton through to woven fabric and spun yarn.

Open Monday to Saturday 10am to 4pm. Sunday 11am to 4pm The museum is open from the first week in January until 30th November. Machinery demonstrations: Monday to Saturday 11am and 2pm Sunday 12pm and 2pm
