Attraction Information
Curious About The Matlocks comprise two fabulous walks of discovery: clues to find, pictures to spot, stories of people and places, plus a detailed map of routes and things to do and see on the way. Additional bonus walk at the end of the Matlock walk.
First Walk: Matlock Bath
Matlock Bath is a village built in a beautiful gorge, made famous by its spring waters and spa. Initially this walk takes you along the delightful river Derwent before exploring some charming gardens. Soon after is a short ascent up the side of the valley, to take in the views, before returning to the riverside, and ending at the foot of a unique cable car which climbs to the Heights of Abraham above (1.75 miles / 2.8 kms).
Second Walk: Matlock
Take this walk and discover the secrets of a Peak District Spa town, made famous by John Smedley and his passion for Hydrotherapy. Initially passing his former ‘Hydro' building, with its fascinating design, you quickly descend to the town centre via an historic road, before ending at enchanting gardens by the banks of a sparkling river (1 mile / 1.6 kms).
