About Bakewell Recreation Ground
Bakewell Recreation Ground is a park covering just over 5 hectares of space and is very popular with families wanting to walk, play, cycle, picnic, fly kites or keep cool in the summer!
The park has a modern and recently upgraded play area including splash pads for water based fun in the summer so don't forget to take towels if the weather is nice! The wet play area is open 1 April to 1 September and available 7 days a week 10am to 5pm with a one hour break, which is generally between 12.30pm and 1.30pm.
Plus there's space for all your traditional family games for the varying age ranges: catch, frisbee, kite flying or anything else you can think of!
There are also 2 football pitches, 2 croquet lawns, a cricket square, a multi-use games area, and a pavilion: loads of ways to enjoy the space if you book ahead to use the facilities. If not, just be sure to have bats, balls, frisbees or whatever your family's favourite outdoor game is in the kit bag. Covered!
There are loos here but simple ones, the main toilets in Bakewell are situated in the town centre on Granby Road opposite the police station and those include baby changing facilities and disabled toilets. Handily you're only a few minutes' walk from the town so that's alright then!
