Portishead Lake Grounds
Portishead, Somerset and BristolAbout Portishead Lake Grounds
The Portishead Lake Grounds area is a beautiful spot to relax with the family. Built around an artificial lake and running alongside the esplanade, this is the town's main recreation ground and conservation area. Plenty of room for exploration, picnicking and traditional park games, so pack up a few bats, balls, frisbees kites and whatever else floats your boat to bring along!
As well as the lake, there is a children's playground with fun equipment suited to 2 to 10s, tennis courts and bowls and, during the summer, rowing boats are available for hire too! A jaunt on the water during your summer park trip is exquackly what the doctor ordered! This is a popular place too for model boat enthusiasts, who can often be seen sailing remote-controlled boats across the lake, so feel free to bring yours along if you've got one! The Lake Grounds has a car park and a cafe too if you forget your flask and need coffee!
The Victorian High Street nearby has lots of interesting little shops as well as a few chains so there's a bit to walk around there, plus if the weather is your enemy and it turns into a need to retreat why not try the Parish Wharf Leisure Centre which has swimming, indoor play, badminton and a toddler room. Or there are several things for kids in the Mall at Cribb's Causeway!
