Blaise Castle and Play Area
Bristol, Somerset and BristolAbout Blaise Castle and Play Area
Tucked away in the beautiful woodland of Bristol, Blaise Castle Estate is a magical spot for families looking for adventure, fresh air, and a touch of history! Whether you're exploring the picturesque folly castle ruins, roaming acres of parkland, or letting little ones run wild in the fantastic play area, there's something for everyone to enjoy.
Things To Do At Blaise Castle
Blaise Castle and Play Area is a pretty magnificent attraction. With extensive grounds, fabulous views and an 18th century castle, its become a family favourite for those who love history. Did you know it's also a 650-acre Grade II listed and Green Flag-awarded attraction?
You can easily lose a whole day exploring the heady mixes of terrain, including a deep limestone gorge hidden in the woods and ancient monuments steeped in folklore waiting to be rediscovered by the kids! This Blaise Castle estate is often named as one of the most magical and romantic landscapes available in the West Country today!
You can discover how people lived through time in the 18th century, 19th century and 20th century. From their day-to-day lives, chores, and the toys they played with, to what they wore! You can uncover the history of the house and even take a peak into the Picture Room!
Outdoor Activities
There is a range of activities you can get stuck into, from exploring the ancient woodland trails and woodland paths that are filled with hidden gems, including mystical caves. You can discover a babbling brook and even a giant wooded gorge! Keep an eye out for the local wildlife along the way – you might spot deer, squirrels, and plenty of birds.
Visit the Dairy Garden, take part in the Blaise Castle parkrun, and Friends of Blaise Castle community events or even visit the Blaise Museum!
Public picnic benches are set in a large grassed area, so there's scope for a traditional outdoorsy lunch: plenty of room for running about with frisbees and balls. Both play areas are fenced so as to be dog-free, so while your pets are generally welcome in the park, don't take them in there! Or else!
Adventure Playground
For families with kids looking for outdoor activities to enjoy, the huge adventure playground is an absolute winner! With swings, slides, climbing frames, and plenty of space to run around, it’s a great way for little explorers to burn off some energy.
The play area is pretty special, too. With 2 age-zoned areas featuring lofty climbing towers, nippy tube slides and an awesome zip wire, super high swings, a tree house climbing frame, and a roundabout. Plus, there's also the seesaw, trampoline and speaking tubes!
There’s also a lovely café on-site, perfect for grabbing a coffee or an ice cream after all that fun.
