Bristol, Somerset and BristolAbout Bristol Zoo Project (Previously Wild Place Project)
Calling all animal lovers, a trip to the Bristol Zoo Project (previously known as Wild Place Project) needs to be on your family to-do list. Ready to swing like monkeys, roam like giraffes, and maybe even howl with the wolves? It isn't just any day out; it's your passport to a world brimming with fun, fur, feathers, and forests, all just a hop, skip, and jump from Bristol!
This isn't your regular stroll in the park – it's a wild ride through nature's wonders, where every corner holds a new discovery. So, pack your explorer's kit (and maybe some snacks), because we're about to embark on a family journey of epic proportions!
Things To Do
Bristol Zoo Project (which used to be called the Wild Place Project) is run by the Bristol Zoological Society. Discover and be amazed at the natural beauty and animal adventures you're about to experience!
This is your chance to journey to the tropics of Madagascar and come face to face with amazing animals like the mischievous lemurs, or see Zebras and Cheetahs roaming in the grassland on the edge of Africa. Or maybe find the Wester lowland gorillas?! Catch a glimpse of the grey parrots in animal enclosures designed to look and feel like their natural habitats.
Brave the wolf encounter and head to the secret Congo, or get up close and personal with towering giraffes at the Giraffe House. Once you’ve said hello to the speedy cheetahs and whistling wolves why not head to the immersive woodland exhibit, and discover so many hidden gems?
Feel like Mowgli in The Jungle Book and take a journey along the Barefoot Trail. Climb and scramble up nets and slide down the fireman's pole at the Fun Fort. Take a leisurely stroll around the Sanctuary Garden, and be sure to refuel at the Cafe before heading home.
Learning? More Like Adventure-Earning!
The family attraction previously known as the Wild Place Project is where the wild things teach. From daily animal keeper talks to information boards around the wild place.
Imagine learning all about the secret lives of animals, not from boring textbooks, but from meeting them face to face! Here, every exhibit is a lesson waiting to be discovered and trust us, it's as fun as it sounds.
It's a perfect family day out!
Heroes of Conservation
Every superhero needs a mission, and here, it's all about saving the world – one animal at a time. The Bristol Zoo Project isn't just fun and games; it's part of a bigger battle against extinction.
Every visit supports their conservation programmes, making your family part of the superhero team. It's a chance to teach the little ones about the power of good deeds, all while having a blast.
Seasonal Events
Why just walk when you can leap, climb, and explore? The Bristol Zoo Project is your family's playground. Test your bravery on the Leap of Faith, tiptoe through the Barefoot Trail, or chase the seasons in ever-changing events. It's where you'll discover that the greatest adventures happen when you're having fun together.
Food & Drink
Satisfy roaring tummies with a trip to the Courtyard Cafe or the Base Camp Pizzeria for some grub. From sandwiches, jacket potatoes, fresh pastries, sourdough pizza and burgers! Plus, so much more food options!

"Absolutely beautiful place! Really well done right from the start. The animals seem so well cared for and lots of space. Each time we stopped a staff member or volunteer spoke to us about the animals or if we needed anything, it was so refreshing. Little play parks for the kids great idea. Thank you for including areas for the disabled in wheelchairs! Food was really delicious, slightly pricey but worth it! Great disabled toilet, was very clean. Can't wait to visit again with the children." - Sarah
