Towering palms, giant bamboo and winding pathways surround you, with tropical plants that have been growing here for over 35 years. An indoor tropical zoo – open all year round

Plantasia Tropical Zoo is a fully indoor tropical zoo, making it the perfect all-weather experience for families. Step inside our iconic glass pyramid and you’ll find yourself immersed in a living rainforest environment, with towering trees and lush tropical plants that have been growing and evolving on site for over 35 years. These established plants create a living, breathing jungle that feels authentic, calming and full of discovery. Home to over 40 different animal species, Plantasia offers close-up encounters with reptiles, amphibians, birds, fish and invertebrates, all carefully housed within naturalistic habitats. The indoor setting means visitors can explore comfortably whatever the season, whether it’s a rainy summer day or a cold winter afternoon. Interactive trails, VIP experiences, learning opportunities and relaxed pathways encourage families to explore at their own pace, making it just as suitable for curious toddlers as it is for older children and adults. It’s a warm, welcoming environment where education, wellbeing and adventure come together under one roof.

Home of the world’s biggest 60-minute escape room games

Plantasia is also home to Jungle Escape, the world’s biggest 60-minute escape room experience, offering something completely different for families, teens and groups looking for an added challenge. Set within the zoo itself, Jungle Escape features immersive, story-driven games that take place across the entire zoo, blending puzzles, teamwork and problem-solving with authentic set design. Players have just one hour to crack codes, uncover clues and complete their mission, making it an exciting add-on to a zoo visit or a standalone attraction in its own right. With two different games available, Jungle Escape appeals to a wide age range and is particularly popular with families with older children, friendship groups, students and corporate teams. The experience encourages communication, creativity and confidence, all within a safe, supervised environment. Having this scale of escape room within a zoo setting is highly unusual, giving Plantasia a distinctive edge as a multi-activity destination where learning, play and adventure sit side by side.

Immersive installations that bring science, nature and history to life

Plantasia Tropical Zoo goes beyond traditional exhibits with a growing range of immersive installations designed to spark imagination and curiosity. Giants of the Past transports visitors back in time with life-sized replica skeletons and fossil displays, which can be brought to life using augmented reality technology for an interactive prehistoric experience. Vital Venoms & Practical Poisons explores animals and plants that use toxins and venom as part of their survival, offering fascinating insights into natural defences, adaptation and the role these substances play in ecosystems and human science. Adding a strong educational and historical layer, Plantasia also hosts an Alfred Russel Wallace exhibition in partnership with Amgueddfa Cymru – Museum Wales, celebrating the influential naturalist’s work and his connection to Wales. Together, these installations add depth to a visit, combining hands-on learning, storytelling and visual impact, and ensuring there is always something new to discover alongside the zoo’s core animal experiences.
