About King House

King House As you wander through the house, you will encounter life-size historical figures, voices from the past, sound effects and hands-on family activities that bring the building and its residents alive! Tours are self-guided which allow you to explore at your leisure. Each gallery strives toward kid appeal and includes such activities as writing like the monks of Boyle Abbey with a quill and ink, and dressing in the attire of a Gaelic Chieftain, or try your building skills as you attempt to construct a brick vault! The fully accessible Attic Walkway tour offers visitors a unique chance to view behind the elaborate facade of an historic house, its original roof timbers and the intricate carpentry skills of the modern restoration. Plus enter the cold and damp jail cells in the basement and experience the harsh conditions that prisoners endured. Discover how two prisoners managed to escape in one week much to the embarrassment of the soldiers on guard!
