Ightham Mote is a great family day out in Kent, combining a storybook moated manor house with beautiful gardens and outdoor adventures.
Families can explore the historic grounds, follow seasonal trails and let off steam in the natural play area, which features balance beams, stepping stones and interactive play.

There’s lots of fun to be had this summer at Ightham Mote. From Saturday 18 July to Monday 31 August join us for games and activities in the garden, so put your sunhat on and come and make the most of being outdoors.
Have fun in the natural play area, challenge family and friends to a game of croquet or table tennis or create your own show in the performance area.

Summer of Play: Nature Craft - Twiggy Adventures
Date: 23 July
Time: 11am, 12pm, 2pm
Price: Included with normal admission (free for National Trust members)
The one-hour session begins with a nature-themed interactive story before children create their own woodland-inspired masterpiece using natural materials.
Paint a woodland backdrop onto cardboard using twigs as brushes, then create a moving nature character on a stick. Watch this character come to life as they journey across the painted scene.

Summer of Play: Dressing up and costume collage creations
Date: 30 July
Time: 11am-3pm
Price: Included with normal admission (free for National Trust members)
Explore and get dressed up in costumes inspired by different periods of history, then it's time to get creative as children make their own unique costume design using colourful scraps and trimmings.

Summer of Play: Nature craft - Nature weaving
Date: 6 August
Time: 11am, 12pm, 2pm
Price: Included with normal admission (free for National Trust members)
This one-hour session begins with an interactive nature-themed story before children discover the art of weaving using a cardboard loom. They can incorporate natural treasures such as fallen leaves, twigs and feathers, into their unique creation.

Explore and get dressed up in costumes inspired by different periods of history, then it's time to get creative as children make a personalised badge inspired by costume accessories through the ages including hats, shoes, jewellery and armour.

Summer of Play: Woodland tree decorations
Date: 20 August
Time: 11am, 12pm, 2pm
Price: Included with normal admission (free for National Trust members)
This one-hour session begins with an interactive nature-themed story to inspire children to create their woodland tree slice decoration; will they make a woodland friend, magical creature or a favourite story character? Get creative and take your decoration home with you.

Dress up in costumes inspired by different periods of history. Then it's time to try the traditional art of brass rubbing and reveal beautiful patterns and designs.

Ightham Mote is just off The Greensand Way - the long-distance walking route across Surrey and Kent.
By Train
Hildenborough (4 miles) and Sevenoaks (7 miles) are both on the London Bridge/London Charing Cross to Hastings mainline. Sevenoaks (7 miles) is also on the Thameslink line from Bedford. Borough Green and Wrotham (3½ miles) are on the London Victoria to Ashford line. Taxi ranks/phones are available at most stations. Show your train ticket in the Mote Cafe to receive a free cup of tea or filter coffee.
