About Filey Zoo

Filey Zoo is a well-designed and beautifully maintained zoo surrounded by stunning Yorkshire coast and countryside. Opened in 2008, this award-winning family-run attraction offers a unique blend of domestic and exotic animals, birds, reptiles, nature and gardens. Since opening, the collection has expanded to include more exotic animals, and with exciting new additions each year there’s always something extra to see.

Whether you're looking for a fun-filled visit with children, or a peaceful place to spend an afternoon, it's fun, relaxing and educational for all – you can even bring your dog! With 5 acres to explore, this attraction is perfect for little feet and older legs where you can meet our friendly animals, have fun on the play park, learn amazing wildlife facts or simply relax in beautiful gardens whilst watching exotic birds.

Meet our Amazing Animals...

With an A to Z of fascinating creatures, ranging from Agouti to Zebu, there’s plenty to interest everyone. You can meet miniature monkeys, mara and our mischievous mob of meerkats. Chat, sing and dance with our parrots - especially George, who keeps everyone entertained! At the Reptile Realm you’ll find Aja our 14 foot (4.2m) Reticulated Python, lizards, and even a Cuvier’s Dwarf Caiman. But its not just reptiles you’ll see here, we also have Red-bellied Piranha and various other ‘creepy crawlies’.

If you prefer something fluffy – we’ve lots of mammals including smaller carnivores such as Skunk, Coati, and Jango, our Asian Leopard Cat – don’t miss his daily keeper talks and feeding times – and see his amazing agility while searching for a snack.

You can even feed some of the larger mammals, including alpacas, goats, ponies, donkeys, sheep, zebu, mara, and wallabies. Purchase a bag of animal food to tempt them over and they’ll usually stay for a stroke or a scratch too!
