Flamborough Fire Festival
Bridlington, East YorkshireAbout Flamborough Fire Festival
The Flamborough Fire Festival is back this year on New Year’s Eve! The exciting festival has a new start time of 20:00 (expect to finish around 22:00, so ideal for families to get back somewhere cosy for the countdown, or the little ones to bed!)The whole family is encouraged to dress up as a Viking warrior, god or goddess! You'll be able to enjoy the Mead Hall, 1200 Viking Torchlight Procession, the World’s Strongest Viking Competition, the pulling of a Viking Longship around the village green, over thirty Fireballs and Fire torches, AND a huge Fireworks spectacular to end the event!! With so many fantastic activities and events going on, your New Year's Eve is about to be on another level. The Torchlight Procession is an event featuring fire and wax-based torches and so all participants take part at their own risk. All Torches are wax based (like a big candle) and safety guards are supplied to protect carrier hands from dripping wax. However, please note, if windy, the wax from the torch/torches may or can be blown onto skin or clothing. Whilst removable from clothing (top tip – an iron and brown paper) please ensure that you and/or your group dress appropriately and do not carry torches or take part in the Procession if wearing delicate fabrics. Also, if you don't want to be subject to dripping wax from the torches, it's advised not to take part. The Torchlight Procession is also an outdoor event so please dress appropriately!Anyone under 16 years taking part in the Procession must be accompanied by an adult over 21 years of age at all times. The Festival Organisers cannot be responsible for children who are carrying a torch. All children must have parental guidance.ParkingThe event organisers kindly ask all visitors attending the Festival by car to kindly arrange to car share (ie: to come with other family members and/or friends, to limit the number of vehicles at the event). There are two designated car parking areas at South Landing Car Park and North Landing Car Park for the Festival. We ask that all visitors attending the Festival by car to arrive early and park their vehicles responsibly and safely in the designated car parks or on the street. Please give respect to local residents at all times.
