Dalby Forest is the perfect family-friendly outdoor destination! Explore the forest on foot, bike or by swinging through the canopy on Go Ape Tree Top Adventure. There you’ll find a whopping 13 walking trails, including easy-access routes perfect for families.

With play areas, camping facilities and lots of exciting activities, Dalby Forest is a proper hub for adventure! Why not try out the brand new forest adventure with The Gruffalo? He's celebrating his 25th birthday this year and he needs your help in locating his missing party items!
We know that kids are always looking for fun and games, so head straight to the Adderstone Field play area. While the little ones swing, climb and balance their way through the playground, you can bask in the sunshine.
Into cycling? There are 6 cycling trails to choose from and you won’t need to bring your bike, as bike hire is available on-site. Be sure to check out the activity centre too; you might find something new and exciting the whole family can get into. There are also mountain bike trails too!
Adrenaline enthusiasts will go wild for Go Ape. Climb the treetops and witness amazing views on the Treetop Adventure course. Explore the forest floor on the perfect two-wheeled adventure... can you guess what it might be? Forest segways, of course!
Food & Drink
Once you've finished exploring the forest floor on your cycle trail activities or walking activities, you can rest up in the Dalby Forest Cafe. Enjoy hot and cold food, drinks, and a picnic area!
There is also an onsite shop so you can purchase a moment from the day!

Dark Sky Discovery Site
Ever wanted to see the sparkling stars in the night sky? Well, at Dalby Forest you can see the stars in all their glory. Being a designated Dark Sky Discovery Site you can see the Milky Way with the naked eye!

By Car
Follow Whitby Gate from Thornton Le Dale. Alternatively follow the A169 from Pickering to Whitby, turning off at the Fox and Rabbit Inn. Look out for the brown tourist signs.
By Public Transport
Car-free visitors are encouraged and Forestry offers free admission to those arriving by public transport or bike.
Service buses are available in Thornton Le Dale to major towns and cities.
