Attraction Information
At Robin Hood's Bay the beaches and cliffs are full of ammonites, belemnites, reptilian and dinosaur fossils and footprints from the Jurassic and Cretacious eras. But at low tide you'll also find a small sandy beach approachable from the clifftop path.
Nearby in the village is the Robin Hood's Bay Museum (and Mortuary!). Displays include fishing, shipping, local history and geology.
Details of the many shipwrecks and historic rescues in the Bay are recorded and there is a unique model of a smuggler's house showing how contraband could be concealed! A life size model of a local fisherwife has many surprises up her sleeve.
