About Birkenhead Park

Birkenhead Park, often referred to as the "People's Garden," is a hidden gem nestled in the heart of Birkenhead, Merseyside. Designed by Joseph Paxton and opened in 1847, it holds the distinction of being the first publicly funded park in the world.

With its sprawling green spaces, landscaped gardens, picturesque lakes, and a fun playground for children, Birkenhead Park is the perfect place for families looking for an active and memorable day out!

Things To Do

Birkenhead Park holds so much natural beauty and much-needed sanctuary from corporate life - it's a joy to explore! The park spans over 140 acres and features a stunning landscape that includes two large lakes, beautiful woodland walks, and lush gardens.

Historical Landmarks

You can't visit Birkenhead Park without seeing The Swiss Bridge! A charming wooden structure, with the most picturesque views. The Roman Boathouse is also a must-see with its distinctive architectural style, which provides a glimpse into the past and makes for an intriguing stop during your walk!

Kid's Play Areas

The kids can let off some steam playing on the swings, slides, climbing frames, and in the sandpit! There are also wide open spaces where families can enjoy ball games and even frisbee!

Picturesque Lakes and Scenic Walks

Birkenhead Park has two beautiful lakes that are perfect for family walks! Families can enjoy feeding the ducks, watching swans glide gracefully across the water, or simply relaxing on one of the many benches.
