Attraction Information
A visit to theMerseyside Maritime Museum is fun on a variety of levels, so whether you have small ones who want to stare at the big things and run on, or curious school agers who want every story in full, there's enough depth of both entertainment and information to facilitate both!
The Sea Urchins Drop In Play Area (to be found on the first floor) offers a nautically themed dress up box, kids' books, hands on activities and activity sheets, in a pleasant atmosphere specifically aimed at the under 5s and their families.
The Seized! exhibit features a Custom Officer's Trail with character Matt, to help keep kids interested and involved; there is also a selection of varying live performances on offers, on subjects like Pirates!
Plus there are also baby changing facilities provided and the restaurant has a dedicated children's menu on offer, so all in all the kids can really feel welcome here! You can download and home print a Family Guide too, which will tell you all the up and coming events oriented toward kids. Handy!
For older types there are of course the wealth of informative and well presented galleries to explore, plus organised tours are available of the Edmund Gardner pilot ship, the De Wadden Schooner and Liverpool's Old Dock, both free but requiring pre booking.
Plus the temporary exhibits are always pretty special, changing several times a year! So check ahead if the kids have a particular historical interest, it may well crop up! And remember that the International Slavery Museum is on the third floor, so why not set out early and go to both? Full o'head, today!
