World of Country Life
Exmouth, DevonAbout World of Country Life
World of Country Life is Devon's multi-award-winning whole family day out! We have 30 acres of things to do, whatever the weather!
When the sun is out, we have so much to do: There's our famous deer train safari, where you can take a ride on our tractor train out into the deer field to hand-feed our herd of red deer, llama, and Soay sheep! Plus, we have a whole host of daily activities, like goat walking - let one of our wonderful nanny goats (or maybe even a kid!) take you on a walk around our Old-Time Farmyard! Or maybe mini golf is more your speed? We've got a 9 hole mini golf course with obstacles like a watermill, a lighthouse, and a plane! If that's not enough, keep an ear out for the announcements about the bird of prey flying display, presented by Hawkridge Birds of Prey Centre! Don't miss out on their amazing display, where birds fly right over the crowd as they display their incredible hunting skills! There's also so many different play areas outside: we've got Harry the Harvester, who's a full-size combine harvester playground, plus our ninja challenge course, trampolines and swings, our huge air bouncer, and even a snakes and ladders board where you are the game piece! For a quieter play area, head down to our aviary, where we've got our rabbit warren - crawl through the tunnels, just like rabbits do!
If it does start to rain, then never fear - we've got you covered (pun intended)! We have two different soft play areas for older kids - Appy Angus's Farm Frenzy, or our Vintage Garage! For little ones, we have our under 5's soft play, where they can have just as much fun without the worry of older kids getting in the way! Plus, each soft play has it's own bouncy castle, so the fun never has to stop. If you're feeling more adventurous than the soft play, then you should climb aboard our pirate ship! The Lady Susannah is ready to set sail with a fearsome crew of pirates, so join the crew and sail the seven seas searching for buried treasure and all sorts of fun! If you're after some more simple fun, venture over to the tower of slides - see who's the fastest as you head down our wavy blue racer slides, get the giggles on our yellow spiral slide, or brave our fearsome red drop slide - are you brave enough to drop down it?
For something more educational, make sure not to miss our farming museum, where you can see how farming was done in days gone by - with real working machines, plus all the equipment that required man power and elbow grease! Take a trip down Memory Lane as you explore our scenes from days gone by - our Edwardian picnic, the wartime kitchen, and even a flashback to a 70's household! From there you can move to Old Town Road, where our Victorian street has displays of old businesses and what they would have sold - stop in at the pub, visit the dressmaker, see what the ironmonger has for sale, and explore the keeper's cottage to discover how a gamekeeper would have lived! There's also our Hall of Transport, with a huge variety of classic and vintage vehicles on show - we've got giant gladiator steam engines, old cars, carriages - some of our vehicles have even been on TV, in shows like Downton Abbey, Mr Selfridge, and Parades End - can you spot which ones? We also display the Reg Imray collection, which is a collection of vintage motorbikes collected by local legend Reg Imray, who spent over 70 years collecting and restoring vintage and classic bikes.
The highlight of the day, come rain or shine, is our daily ferret racing show in the Barnyard Theatre - join our Ferret Racing Master, our special ferreteers, and our green deer mascot, 'Appy Angus, for dancing, singing, fun, and ferret racing! Angus comes out every day at 2pm, so make sure you've got your seat for it ready for the show!
Our activity programme runs every single day, and check out our website for all our special events throughout the year!
Ride our deer train safari and feed the animals!
Take a ride on our tractor deer train into our field to hand feed our herd of deer, llama, and soay sheep! For £2.20 you can step aboard and learn about these amazing animals, before we stop to allow you to feed the animals. A pot of special deer food is included in the price.
So much to see and do, whatever the weather!
