The Makers Millhouse
Melton Mowbray, LeicestershireAbout The Makers Millhouse
Welcome to The Makers Millhouse, a little family-run creative space for kids, adults, and anyone who loves to make, explore, and just switch off for a while. We’re located at the historic Wymondham Windmill, and our studio blends hands-on craft activities with a relaxed café vibe, so you can take a moment to pause, get creative, and enjoy making something you’re proud of. Every corner of the studio has been designed with families and fun in mind, so whether you’re popping in for a short craft session, celebrating a special occasion, or just fancy some mindful time away from the day-to-day, we hope you’ll feel right at home.
Run by local mum of two and award-winning calligraphy artist, Jenni Cabrelli, The Makers Millhouse was founded from first-hand experience of how much joy and calm crafting can bring, especially when life is busy. Our sessions are structured so that everyone gets a full, enjoyable experience, which makes them perfect for families, friends, or anyone who just needs a bit of creative escapism. We offer a wide range of activities from our craft menu, which is updated on a regular basis, from painting to paper crafts to calligraphy, and mixed-media projects, there’s something for every age and ability. Each session is a chance to try something new, play around with ideas, and walk away with something you’ve made yourself.
One of the things we love most about The Makers Millhouse is helping families enjoy the fun of getting creative without any of the usual stress or mess. Creativity is messy, and as parents ourselves, we know how stressful it can be at home cleaning up after all the glitter, paint and glue comes out! That’s why we take care of everything for you, from laying out the materials to tidying up afterwards. You can focus on having fun, getting stuck into your craft, and leaving with a finished creation, knowing we’ve got the messy bit covered.
The studio isn’t just for kids either. Adults are very welcome to join in, whether alongside your little ones or creating something on your own. With the Wymondham Windmill Tea Room, you can also order and enjoy a selection of hot and cold drinks and delicious home cooked treats while you craft, so your visit really feels like a proper outing rather than a rushed activity. Crafting together is a lovely way for families to connect, share ideas, and enjoy quality screen-free time.
We also offer a range of flexible experiences beyond our regular craft cafe sessions. From bookable guided workshops to private hire for birthday parties or special occasions, we can help plan the perfect event for a fun, memorable, and completely stress-free experience, with all materials provided so that all you need to do is relax, enjoy the celebrations, and focus on making something uniquely yours.
The Makers Millhouse is more than just an arts and craft studio, we believe it’s a space for curiosity, confidence, and creativity. So whether you’re after a fun day out with the family, a little creative treat for yourself, or some quality time with friends, we welcome everyone with warmth, encouragement, and a friendly, family run and community spirit that makes each visit feel special.
A Café Meets Creative Experience for All Ages
The Makers Millhouse is more than just a place for children, it’s a shared creative experience for all ages. Sit down together and enjoy hands-on crafting, whether you’re joining in with your child or creating something of your own. With a relaxed café-style setting and drinks and treats supplied from the Wymondham Windmill Tea Room, it’s the perfect way for families and friends to connect, unwind, and get creative together.
