Telford Steam Railway is a volunteer operated preserved Steam Railway with friendly and informed help available and many interesting things to look at in the train related vein.
Not only can you enjoy the thrilling experience of travelling by steam, pulled by wonderful locomotives such as ‘Rocket', there are a number of other features at the railway to keep everyone entertained. The Telford Town Tramway offers a great way to experience a smaller steam train, on a 2” gauge vertical boiler loco and trailer.
A Model Railway can be found in the Railway House near the Furnace Tearooms. It began construction in 1976 so there's history and tradition available to learn about; but it is constantly maintained and modernised to ensure a fascinating experience, as you watch an extensive 00 gauge model railway in action!
Phoenix Miniature Railway can also be seen in operation, but only on the last Sunday of each month, and every Bank Holiday Monday and Sunday, for a small charge of £1 per person. Telford Steam Railway holds a number of exciting events throughout the year, so check their events page before you visit, to see what's on.
