National Trust Attingham Park
Shrewsbury, ShropshireAbout National Trust Attingham Park
Are you looking for a delightful destination that promises fun for the entire family? Look no further than Attingham Park - a National Trust site! Nestled in the heart of Shropshire, this majestic estate offers sprawling landscapes, intriguing history, and a host of activities that will keep every member of the family entertained.
Things To Do
The magnificent Attingham Hall stands as a centrepiece of the estate. The Georgian Mansion was built to impress Noel Hill who was the 1st Lord of Berwick. Touring the historic house and regal mansion offers a glimpse into the lives of its former inhabitants and the history of the area. Each room tells a story, adorned with historical artefacts and detailed architecture. There are even hidden home and wallpaper conservation studio tours there too!
For families, the interactive exhibits and storytelling sessions help bring history to life in an engaging and educational way.
Did you know that there are 12 Grade II listed buildings within the 18th-century estate? From the bee house and ice house to the ha-ha and the iconic walled garden!
One of the highlights of Attingham Park is that the kitchen garden is used to grow its own fresh produce! So, families can enjoy delicious, healthy foods while supporting local farmers and artisans. Also, the park's sustainability initiatives, such as beekeeping and renewable energy projects, offer insightful learning experiences on environmental preservation.
Uncover the Magic of Nature
Attingham Park is a treasure trove of natural beauty. With over 200 acres of beautiful parkland, it offers the perfect setting for a family picnic or a leisurely stroll. The park is home to a rich variety of wildlife, from the fallow deer roaming the Deer Park to the colourful butterflies fluttering in the walled kitchen garden. Kids will love the opportunity to connect with nature and learn about the diverse ecosystems of the park.
Within the acres of parkland and wider estate, you'll find mature parkland trees, ancient landscapes and the River Tern
Not to mention flourishing flora and botanical blooms! There's over 300 fruit trees here, from apples and pears to peaches, apricots plums and even nectarines!
Engaging Activities for All Ages
Attingham isn’t just about scenic beauty; it’s also a hub of activities. For the little adventurers, the woodland playground is a dream come true. With climbing frames, swings, and slides, kids can burn off some energy while parents relax in the nearby seating areas.
The park also offers seasonal events such as Easter egg hunts, Halloween trails, and Christmas markets, providing fun-filled activities that align with family holidays and occasions.

It is a place where families can create lasting memories, learn together, and enjoy the great outdoors in a beautiful environment. The blend of natural beauty, historical significance, and family-friendly activities makes it an unbeatable choice for a day out with the kids.
"Attingham Park is a great family day out. There are lovely walks which are all dog friendly of different lengths, along the river, through woods and the deer park. You can see the deer in the deer park where dogs are allowed on leads. There is a playground for kids with a snack van (which is open during school holidays) and picnic tables, dogs are allowed in on leads. The walled garden is a lovely quiet stop, again it's dog friendly on leads, plenty of benches there is also an orchard with more picnic tables. The house is really lovely no dogs inside but definitely worth seeing." - Claire
