Built in the 1440s by Ralph Cromwell, Lord Treasurer to Henry VI, this brick-built castle is a rare piece of medieval luxury. The medieval brickwork castle towers over 30 metres into the sky, creating an imposing yet beautiful structure that is perfect for kids to explore.

By Train:

To reach Tattershall Castle by train, the nearest major railway station is Lincoln Central Station. From London, you can take a direct train to Lincoln, which takes around 2 hours. Once you arrive at Lincoln Central, you’ll need to take a bus or taxi to Tattershall Castle. The journey by taxi takes approximately 30 minutes. Alternatively, you can catch the Stagecoach bus 5 from Lincoln to Tattershall, which takes about 45 minutes.

By Car:

Driving to Tattershall Castle is straightforward and offers flexibility for families. If you’re coming from London, take the A1(M) northbound and exit onto the A17 towards Sleaford. Follow the A153 to Tattershall. From Nottingham, take the A46 northeast to Lincoln, then follow signs for the A15 and A153 towards Tattershall. The castle is well-signposted, and there is a large car park available on-site, making it convenient to park and begin your adventure.

By Bus:

If you’re travelling by bus, Tattershall Castle is accessible via local bus services. From Lincoln, take the Stagecoach bus 5 towards Boston, which stops at Tattershall Market Place. The bus journey takes around 45 minutes. Once you arrive at Tattershall Market Place, the castle is just a short 5-minute walk away. The bus route is scenic and a great way to see more of the Lincolnshire countryside on your way to the castle.
