One of the best parts of visiting Rivington Pike? The hikes you and the family can venture on!

The best place to begin is the Rivington Hall Barn. From there it’s only 3 miles to the top, but the ascent is rather steep, so don’t hesitate to take a breather and soak in the scenery.

You’ve got a choice of routes but the top family favourite is the path leading through the beautiful Rivington Terraced Gardens. With various trails ranging from easy to moderate, families can choose a path that best suits their fitness levels and interests. Whether it’s a leisurely stroll around the Lower Rivington Reservoir or a more challenging hike up to the Pike, there’s something for everyone.

We suggest heading out on the Rivington Pike Walk, which is one of the best walks in Pennine Moors! Plus, it's a popular route, so you know it'll blow your socks off - think of all the natural scenery and spectacular views you can observe at the hill summit.

The well-maintained trails are safe for children and allow for stroller access in certain areas, ensuring even the youngest family members can join in!

If you fancy something a bit harder, you can explore a more challenging route that is filled with a mix of terrains and can take up to 3 hours to complete.

You may get a little tired but the reward waiting at the top is arguably the best views in the North West! On a sunny day, you can see all the way to the Isle of Man and the Lake District! But even when you aren’t so lucky with the weather, you can still see Winter Hill, Macron Stadium and Lever Park.
