About Dublin Castle
Dublin Castle may not look like much from the front, but it covers an area of 11 acres (44,000 square metres), and has plenty of different areas to explore with the kids, and most of it is free!
The castle has been at the heart of the evolution and history of Dublin for over 800 years, and contains the most important staterooms in the country, the State Apartments and Government buildings! There is so much to see, including the Dubhlinn Gardens, the gothic Chapel Royal, Great Courtyard, quirky Revenue museum, and the fascinating Chester Beatty Library, which has an amazing collection of art and manuscripts.
If you and the kids would like to see more, guided tours of the State Apartments and the Medieval Undercroft are available most days and have some really interesting features to discover. It doesn't cost too much for the tour, and kids under 6 can join you on the tour for free!
