Attraction Information
Drimnagh Castle is over 800 years old, and remained inhabited until the 1960s! For almost 30 years, the only occupants were ducks, until an incredible restoration project took place. The whole family will enjoy exploring this Norman castle and grounds, while learning its history from one of the friendly guides.
Discover the what life was like for the castle inhabitants during medieval times, and the large number of different people who lived and worked there.
You can also learn how the castle has changed over time, from the evolution of new defensive strategies, to its architecture and its restoration. If you dare, ask about the sightings of the ghost too!
The castle gardens are great too. Beautiful to look at, with features such as Hornbeam Alley, a large herb garden, a vegetable garden and stonework projects. If you are lucky, the knowledgeable and enthusiastic gardener will be there to tell you all about it
