Attraction Information
Berkhamsted Castle has opportunities for enjoyment for all ages.
Pre-school children can run about safely in the bailey and play games. Older children can climb to the top of the motte, read the information panels on the site and imagine what the Castle was like in times gone by.
On summer weekends or on a visit from school they can see the panels in the Visitor Room or have a guided tour appropriate for their age and learn about the castle's history.
The Visitor Room has panels telling of Castle's history. Nearby they can visit the canal and see how the locks work as barges go through. They can also take rubbings of the information panels or continue on to Canal Fields where there is a splendid outdoor playground, or even go skateboarding. All this is absolutely free!
