Ashby de la Zouch Museum
Ashby-de-la-Zouch, LeicestershireAbout Ashby de la Zouch Museum
Ashby de la Zouch Museum is full of interesting artefacts and models which tell the history of this ancient market town. Open throughout the year, there are also special events for children and families, some of which are free.
Dress up in 17th century costume, play with Victorian toys, meet a Roman Soldier in full battle dress, become a junior archaeologist: just some of the things children have been able to do on previous Free Family Fun Days. And at all times (not just events days) kids can access the cartoon timeline of the town, which has new features allowing you to hear someone in each picture speaking to you!
Many school groups visit them for curriculum work and they are able to loan objects and educator's boxes to schools to support classroom work (e.g. on the 17th Century and World War II). There are also 30 replica 17th century costumes for children to use at the museum or for schools to borrow. There are now leaflets and activity sheets for children to use in the two galleries too!
It is worth noting that the film unit has now closed.
