Battlefield Line Railway
Shackerstone, LeicestershireAbout Battlefield Line Railway
The three stations on the Battlefield Line Railway are Shenton (an award winner), Market Bosworth and Shackerstone, the latter of which is the HQ station where you'll find the loco shed and main rolling stock plus their Victorian Tea Room, Historic Museum and Souvenir Shop.
The museum at The Battlefield Line Railway is a tresure trove of artefacts spanning nearly 200 years and you'll find yourself mesmerised by the sheer number of items on show, many with a local link.
Our shop is full of gifts plus a great selection of model railway items from many of the leading manufacturers such as Hornby, Bachmann, Peco, Dapol and Rapido. So once you have experienced a trip behind one of our steam or diesel locomotives, you can take your very own miniature version home with you to enjoy again and again.
Refreshments are availble from the Victorian tea room at Shackerstone and from out take-away facility at Shenton too. Our Markert Bosworth cafe is also open on certain special events.
There's disabled access throughout all 3 stations and loos at Shenton and Shackertone (currently there are no disabled toilet faciilites at Market Bosworth)
Trains run on weekends between March and October plus on certain midweek days during school holidays. For a full timetable and list of operating days, plus details of what type of train is in operation (steam/diesel/railcar), head over to our website.
Heritage steam & diesel train journeys through the Leicestershire countryside
There’s so much more to see and do on the Battlefield Line than first meets the eye. Climb aboard one of our trains and you’re transported back in time on an historical journey, courtesy of a country railway in the heart of rural England.
A great range of special events throughout the year
The yearly calendar is packed full of events, with steam & diesel train galas, fish & chip trains, a railway model show, real ale festival, Mother & Father's day services plus our hugely popular Santa Specials to round off the year (now a sell-out 4 years in a row!). Head over to our website now to see the next event...
Enjoy the sights & smells of British engineering
With various steam and diesel trains in operation, this is a great chance to get up close to some of the very best British engineering from the last 200 years. Nothing comes close to the smell of steam from an original locomotive.
