Attraction Information
Abington Park sits on the site on a medieval village, with some buildings surviving over 7 centuries!
The park contains 2 lakes, one former boating lake and a connecting stream. There are often ducks here who will happily relieve you of your crusts, and other birds worth bringing the binoculars for if you're a twitchy sort.
The landscape here also features a specific 'garden for the blind', though of course you may visit too, with fragrant and pleasantly textured plants and flowers for your stroking and sniffing pleasure!
There is a fitness trail of public equipment to follow and take part in: from cross trainers to air walkers and hip twisters, the trail has 8 differing pieces of fitness apparatus intended for over 7s to get stuck into.
Plus, of course there are capacious playground facilities elsewhere for the younger crowd with all the climbing, sliding and messing about fare they like to play with. If that's not their kind of thing, there's loads of space around for scooting, playing ball games or flying kites or frisbees!
Plus, the Abingdon Museum tucked away in the park is situated in a picturesque 500 year old building and makes a fun half hour of exploring and nosing through curiosities. Go and browse the wonderful collections, ranging from domestic life in the town to local military photographs.
Worth knowing that there are toilets situated on the south side of the park, next to the cafe and bowling greens.
