Sywell Aviation Museum is based in the lovely Art Deco surroundings of Sywell Aerodrome, which is located on the edge of Sywell village in Northamptonshire, and boats one of the best General Aviation Airfields in the UK!
We are Northamptonshire's premier aviation museum....awarded Museum of the Year & Best Exhibition in the Renaissance Heritage Awards 2007, Highly Commended in the Northants Heritage Awards 2011 and 2012 for Best Special Project, and more! Sywell Aviation Museum is a voluntary, non profit organisation that aims to preserve the history of the Aerodrome, and Northamptonshire's rich aviation heritage from the early days of aviation, to WWII and beyond. Entrance is free, but donations are very welcome, as we rely on them to survive!
Learn about Sywell's role from the 1920s through the dark days of WW2, see aircraft cockpits, a wartime kitchen Anderson shelter, WW2 bomb tractor and trolley complete with bombs, and an original WW2 Flight simulator! Discover details about the Home Guard, The Great War, and Aviation Archaeology. the American Air Force in Northamptonshire, tales of how the civilian population coped with bombing during the war, and LOADS more!
The museum is packed full of artefacts, photographs, aero engines, models, uniforms, and weapons, so allow yourself a few hours for your visit.
Opening Times
Museum is open from Easter weekend until the end of September every Saturday, Sunday, and Bank Holidays between 10.30 AM and 4.30 PM New for 2016: From June to September museum is open on Wednesdays between 1 PM and 4.30 PM
